4 Table Setting Tips For Thanksgiving November 14, 2019

by Lifestyle

We know cooking a large Thanksgiving dinner can get a little chaotic, so the least we can do is help you set the table!

Read along for four of our table setting tips and tricks to set the perfect table.

1. Keep it simple.

When you keep it simple, you keep it affordable! Use natural elements for your centerpiece, and remember a little goes a long way. When your centerpiece is too busy, it detracts from the main event (the food, obvi!).

Fresh Tips:

  • Choose 2 or 3 elements within a similar color range that’s complementary to the warm colors of the food. This will make your gorgeous Thanksgiving meal really stand out as the star of the show.
  • Abundance is key, not clutter. If you keep your elements to the centerpiece toned down, you can create an abundant spread that won’t look distractingly full.

2. Choose a color palette.

For your place settings, use tones that go well together. For Thanksgiving, cream colored dishware and mahogany or walnut colored accents would look lovely alongside the turkey!

Fresh Tip:

Try adding a pretty herbal accent to your napkin rings, for instance, rosemary. And if you don’t want to spend on napkin rings and you don’t plan on using them again, try a simple twine napkin tie with a sprig of rosemary!Thanksgiving Table Setting Napkin

3. Don’t go overboard.

Go easy on the dishware! Since you’ll be focusing your efforts on cooking a beautiful spread this Thanksgiving, you don’t need to add a day’s worth of dishes to it all. Consider paring down your table settings to a more “informal” setting this holiday season.

4. Consider a buffet table.

Because the table will be pre-set with a gorgeous centerpiece, table settings, and glassware, make it easier for you (and your guests!) and have them serve themselves at a buffet table before sitting down. Buffet set-ups are easier to manage, reduce the risk of knocking over a glass of wine on the table, and ensure that guests can choose what they want most of (and they can always go back for seconds!).

Fresh Tip:

  • Use baking dishes that double as servingware for recipes like stuffing and green bean casserole.
