How To Make Your Own Natural Cleaning Products For Spring March 10, 2020
Go green this spring with all natural, 5-ingredient cleaning products and air fresheners.
Spring is the perfect time to press refresh on your dinner routine and get re-energized by the bright, flavorful ingredients of the season. But before you bust out the pots and pans, give your kitchen some love and scrub, scrub, scrub until everything’s spick and span.
Instead of the usual all-purpose cleaners, try your hand at making them from scratch this season. Not only do they come together in less time than it’ll take you to drive to and from the store, but they’ll save you money, too. And the best part? No harsh chemicals.
Before you know it, your spotless kitchen filled with fresh, citrusy scents will become your happy place, cooking will become part of your go-to groove, and you’ll never look back.
Citrus All-Purpose Cleaner
Because white vinegar is 5% acetic acid, it kills bacteria and viruses (with the help of a little elbow grease). For this cleaner, we neutralized the strong, vinegar-y odor with a trifecta of citrusy essential oils: orange, grapefruit, and lemon.
Here’s what you’ll need:
- 1 16-Oz Spray Bottle
- 1 Cup White Vinegar
- 1 Cup Distilled Water
- 3 Drops Orange Essential Oil
- 3 Drops Grapefruit Essential Oil
- 3 Drops Lemon Essential Oil
Here’s what you’ll do:
Pour all ingredients into the spray bottle, using a funnel if necessary. Gently shake before using.
Lavender Air Freshener
Baking soda is the “jack of all trades” when it comes to your kitchen — unclogging drains, removing oil and grease, deodorizing the fridge (and garbage disposals, and cutting boards, and litter boxes), and freshening up air.
Just like with the cleaner, this air freshener makes ample use of fragrant essential oils. This time, lavender and lemon.
Here’s what you’ll need:
- 1 16-Oz Spray Bottle
- 2 Cups Distilled Water
- 1 Tablespoon Baking Soda
- 7 Drops Lavender Essential Oil
- 3 Drops Lemon Essential Oil
Here’s what you’ll do:
Pour all ingredients into the spray bottle, using a funnel if necessary. Gently shake before using.
On a spring cleaning kick? Keep it up by organizing your fridge like a pro.
