What is Spring Clean Eating? March 23, 2021

by Eat

The days are a little longer. The sun shines a little stronger. As the world outside starts to change, we’re looking indoors at how our kitchens change with it! Want to know what Spring Clean Eating is? Stay tuned, because this is definitely not our first rodeo.

Pantry Party

Success starts with a little preparation! Start by doing an overhaul and get rid of (or limit) foods that don’t serve you. Instead, stock up on healthy options that you and your family love. Find yourself snacking all the time? Reorganize your pantry or fridge so that snack foods are harder to get to! Favorite snack foods are a little too moreish? Create your own little snack packs according to the bag’s serving size. Overall, you want to set yourself up for success, whatever that looks like for you!

Pick Some Peak Produce

We love to take advantage of all the amazing produce spring has to offer. From asparagus, lettuces, peas, and radishes, there’s a whole rainbow of fresh fruits and veggies that become much more widely available. While we take joy in sending delicious produce all year, spring veggies just hit a little differently!

Hit Refresh

Think about your mentality around food. Be careful not to villainize or ban certain foods. Similarly, don’t glorify “super foods.” Food is food and life’s about balance, your diet should reflect that. Focus on mindful eating instead of restrictive eating, listening to your hunger cues and eating a variety of nutrient dense foods that make you feel good inside and out.

Switch It Up

Plant-based living is becoming more and more mainstream due to its health and environmental benefits. Our four vegetarian options a week are a great opportunity for everyone to put some more veggie variety in their life. These recipes are easy-to-make and easy-to-love, so you don’t have to throw yourself in at the deep end of vegetarian cooking.

Spring is a time of change. It’s an opportunity to slow down, reassess where we’re going, and make meaningful tweaks to our lives. It’s also an opportunity to zoom out, looking at your life over the last year and the year to come. What are you grateful for this Spring? What’s been going well? And what can you adjust to make the next year even better? Life is a marathon, so take it slow and be kind to yourself. Meaningful change happens one day at a time.
