Food Reads December 16, 2013
Just about one more week until the holidays hit. Between shopping, wrapping, baking, partying, and doing it all over again, this is a busy and stressful time for everyone, which is why it’s equally important to schedule some “me” time as it is to chug that eggnog. So while you’re cozying up by the fire during the lull between Christmas and New Years, snuggle up with one of our favorite foodie reads below!
Garlic & Sapphires by Ruth Reichl – a quick and fun read by the former New York Times restaurant critic.
Blood, Bones & Butter by Gabrielle Hamilton – the autobiography of spunky and tireless chef Gabrielle Hamilton (Prune, NYC). Girl power!
The Food52 Cookbook by Amanda Hesser & Merrill Stubbs – You might remember we’re big fans of Food52 (they contributed 2 recipes to our boxes a couple weeks ago!) and we’re nothing less for their cookbook. 140 recipes sourced from home cooks – like you – we love these approachable recipes and beautiful pictures.
Ideas in Food by Aki Kamozawa and H. Alexander Talbot – For you food nerds out there, this one is for you: husband and wife chef team explain why great recipes work through food science. Also check out their blog!
The Gourmet Cookbook – Over 1000 recipes from the now defunct Gourmet magazine, this is a classic every chef – from novice to pro – should have in their kitchen.
