Tips from Kitchen Daily June 15, 2014
You may have noticed a special treat in your HelloFresh deliveries recently: tip sheets from Kitchen Daily! Kitchen Daily is an amazing online resource for delicious recipes and helpful tips, and we’re super excited to be sharing their savvy cooking tips all month long! With the first day of summer coming this week, we wanted to share their tips for keeping all of your delicious summer produce fresh and delicious.
Storing Vegetables – Keep your fridge at no higher than 40 degrees F to extend the life of veggies. Keep produce stored separately from meat, poultry, seafood, and eggs.
Cleaning Vegetables – Cut away any bruises and rinse with water before preparing. A produce brush can be helpful to scrub firm veggies, like potatoes and cucumbers.
Prepping Vegetables – Chopping and preparing vegetables ahead of time is a great timesaver. Rinse leafy vegetables, like lettuces, wrap in a paper towel, then seal in a plastic bag in the fridge. Store other cut vegetables in an airtight container in the fridge.
