8 Peach Recipes to Try This August August 19, 2016
Celebrate your favorite fuzzy-skinned fruits this month with eight juicy and delicious peach recipes. We’ve got a feeling you’ll ap-peach-iate every single one.
We would like to have a serious chat with the person in charge of food holidays. Because however much we love eating, it’s impossible to remember every one — especially when it comes to celebrations like national glazed spiral ham day on April 5, “something on a stick” day on March 28, and an entire bison month in July.
But national peach month in August? Now that’s right up our alley.
Native to China, this stone fruit is recognizable by its fuzzy, pinkish white skin and sweet flesh. As if their succulent taste wasn’t enough, peaches are also loaded with fiber, antioxidants, and vitamins to keep your appetite satisfied, hair glowing, and skin smooth. They’re available in most regions of the United States from May to October but peak in the late summer months.
To help you make the most of this oh-so-important food holiday, we’ve compiled a list of eight HelloFresh recipes that’ll have you feeling peachy.
1. Pan-Seared Pork Chops with Shallot Thyme Pan Sauce, Peach Arugula Salad, and Couscous
We’re not sure what we like best about this peach recipe: the combination of juicy fruit with peppery arugula or the tender pork drizzled with herby pan sauce. We’ll let you decide for yourself. Get the recipe here.
2. Peach and Tomato Tartines with Ricotta, Mint, and Almonds
Kiss ordinary toast goodbye and say HELLO to tartines, or French open-faced sandwiches. This one’s topped with creamy ricotta, summery greens, and succulent caramelized peaches. It’s practically a no-cook meal, which means you’ll be “toasting” to dinnertime in under 30 minutes. Get the recipe here.
3. Jerk Chicken and Peach Skewers with Curried Rice Pilaf
We’ve taken skewers to a whole new level by adding peach slices to a Jamaican-inspired dish. Tender chicken and curried rice round out this sweet and savory meal to remember. Get the recipe here.
4. Peach and Mozzarella Flatbread with Walnuts and Balsamic Arugula Salad
Sweet peaches + crunchy walnuts + creamy mozzarella = the ultimate summer flatbread. Need we say more? Get the recipe here.
5. Peach and Nectarine Orzo Salad with Feta, Cucumber, and Mint
Although nectarines are firmer than peaches, they’re just as sweet. Together, the two make for an knockout pair in this refreshing salad. Pop the fruit under the broiler for a few minutes before tossing with crisp cucumbers, mint, lemon, and chewy orzo. Get the recipe here.
6. Peachy Pork Tacos with Tangy Summer Slaw
Pork pairs well with almost any fruit — apples, figs, pineapple, you name it! In this recipe, we combine tender meat with peaches, tomatoes, shallots, lime zest, lime juice, and parsley before wrapping it all up in a warm tortilla. Get the recipe here.
7. Peach, Mint, and Ginger Iced Tea
Trust us, you haven’t tasted lemonade iced tea until you’ve tried this minty peach and ginger dream-come-true. One sip and you’ll wonder how you ever managed to live without it. Get the recipe here.
8. Sweet Grilled Peaches with Berries
Keep that grill on allllllll the way through to dessert. For a fruity end to the meal, top peaches with blueberries, honey, butter, and lemon juice. Try your best to share. Get the recipe here.
