Get to Know The 4 (RED) Celebrity Chefs June 7, 2017
June is officially here, which means we’re celebrating four weeks of (HelloFresh)RED recipes to raise money and awareness in support of an important goal: ensuring no baby is born with HIV. But before you bust out the pots, crank up the heat, and prepare to cook for a cause, read up on who the celebrity chefs are and the surprising facts about them you never would have guessed.
1. Mario Batali
During his career, Mario has opened 26 restaurants and five Eataly marketplaces — all while publishing eleven cookbooks. When he’s not in the kitchen, he can be found sporting bright orange Crocs behind the camera on ABC’s “The Chew,” a daytime talk show that celebrates and explores life through food. And on the off chance Mario is not in kitchen OR on television, well, he’s probably promoting (RED) since he was the original chef to team up with the nonprofit back in 2014. Boy, Mario sounds like one busy guy, don’t you think?
Home cooks all around the country are feasting on Mario’s Spaghetti with Fresh Tomatoes, Chorizo, and Basil this week!
2. Emeril Lagasse
Emeril is the chef/proprietor of 13 restaurants, including four in New Orleans, four in Las Vegas, two in Orlando, and three in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania. And if you’re thinking “he looks so familiar,” it’s probably because you’ve seen him on television as the food correspondent for ABC’s “Good Morning America,” guest judge in Bravo’s “Top Chef,” or Amazon’s “Eat the World” — just to name a few. But what you probably didn’t know is that he was the first celebrity chef to have his recipes eaten in space. Talk about meals that are out of this world.
Emeril’s Herby Dijon Chicken Breast with Zucchini and Red Potatoes is on deck for the week of June 10 – June 16. Learn more about it here (and select it off the menu while you’re at it).
3. Rachael Ray
Rachael Ray has been surrounded by food for as long as she can remember. In fact, one of her first vivid memories is watching her mother in the restaurant kitchen flipping something with a spatula. Fast forward to today and Rachael is the queen of 30 minute meals — so much so that she even has a TV show on the Food Network and bestselling series of cookbooks with the name. Oh — and if you’ve ever used the term evoo to refer to extra virgin olive oil, you can thank Rachael.
Rachael’s Grilled Buffalo Chicken with Carrot-Celery Slaw and Mashed Taters is slated for the week of June 17 – June 23.

4. Carla Hall
Carla spends her days co-hosting ABC’s “The Chew” (think she knows Mario?), competing on Bravo’s “Top Chef,” and running a restaurant in her old stomping grounds of Nashville. Her cooking technique is a blend of French technique with a comforting Southern flair. But get this: cooking wasn’t always Carla’s full time job. Surprisingly enough, she worked as a CPA (Certified Public Accountant) and model before attending culinary school and eventually coining the fun catch phrase, “Hootie Hoo.”
Carla’s Summery Lemon Chicken with Tarragon Chimichurri is the final meal coming your way the week of June 24 – June 30.
