Question: what’s better than one colorful, simple, and delicious citrus curd? Answer: FIVE citrus curds!

First things first, what is a citrus curd?

Some might call it a sweet, fruity spread. Others, a custard. Regardless, there’s one thing we know for certain: when butter, sugar, eggs, and citrus join forces, something magical happens.

Although lemon curd is the most popular version, the sweet treat can also be made with limes, oranges, blood oranges, and grapefruits. Each delivers varying degrees of sweetness, tang, and tart. But all are delicious.

  • Lime: tart and tangy
  • Oranges and blood oranges: sweet
  • Grapefruits: slightly bitter

Say no more. How do I make it?

Once you know how to make one citrus curd, you know how to make them all. It’s as simple as whisking together all ingredients, adding to a pot, and heating up slowly while whisking. That’s it! This gem of a dessert can be refrigerated in an airtight container for about a week. But let’s be honest—it’ll be long gone by day three.

How do I eat it?

We totally won’t judge if you decide to eat it straight from the jar. In fact, we’d probably ask for a spoon to join in on the fun. But if you’re looking for some more options, try:

  • Adding a dollop to your morning oatmeal
  • Drizzling on a stack of pancakes in lieu of maple syrup
  • Slathering on a warm muffin
  • Stirring into a yogurt parfait

Now the only question is… what to do with all that leftover citrus? We’re torn between citrus salad and honey and orange chicken jambalaya. We’ll let you make the call.
