Gabe says:

This looks awesome. I’ve made a similar one in the past. The process says to add lime juice, but the ingredients list doesn’t indicate how much. Should I assume it’s to taste?

Genna says:

Hope you make it and love it, Gabe! Add the lime juice to taste- some people prefer it without any at all so we left it off the list.

Diane says:

Washing isn’t a sure way to get capsicum off of skin; it’s far better to wear gloves while handling chilies.

Genna says:

Excellent tip Diane! Gloves are definitely the best choice, thanks for sharing!

April says:

Your instructions mention lime juice but it isn’t in the ingredient list. Which is correct?

Genna says:

Sorry about that April! Add the lime juice to taste, based on your preferences. Enjoy!

Ariadne says:

How long will it last in refrigerator?

Thanks!

PK says:

I am a widow with limiting physical issues. Your ideas sound wonderful, but the recipe for hot sauce (for example) requires lots of chopping which would be very difficult for me. I could see ordering 3 meals for 2, and reheating the 3 meals for one, to create 6 meals for one. But there’s a question about whether these recipes would reheat reliably.

There are millions of us who live alone. A service such as yours would be a lifesaver for many of us.
Do you have a solution for us with your current set up. Or would you consider creating such a service in the future. Many of us sacrifice healthy eating for
convenience or a feeling that we’re not worth cooking great meals for just one. Would really appreciate a response. PK

Genna says:

Hi there– Thanks so much for your feedback! We are working on expanding our serving size flexibility, but in the mean time, we do have many happy customers, who cook for one. They tell us that they appreciate the leftovers (everything typically reheats well then next day for lunch)! Hope that helps! You can check out our upcoming classic box recipes here: http://bit.ly/1JuFYrc and our upcoming veggie box recipes here: http://bit.ly/1ZO9Ym6

Thanks for the recipe. I am always looking for awesome new hot sauces to try. The hotter the better. I’m especially fond of any sauce made with ghost peppers.

Jacqueline says:

Jessie – ooooohhh ghost peppers sound like the perfect SPICY addition. Let us know how this hot sauce turns out!!

Nice simple take on a Caribbean staple!

I LOVE love love making cream of wheat with fat free 1/2 & 1/2 and sugar substitute. It comes out AMAZING! Sprinkle alittle cinnamon on top & YUMMY!!!!! And I HATE cream of wheat.

Genna says:

That sounds DELICIOUS- thank you so much for sharing!

Gigi Pravda says:

I love muesli! Born in Austria & grew up on it. And I love how we can change-up ingredients today to make this yummy-sounding Cocoa-Banana version. High protein is a must-have at breakfast, so I adjusted the recipe to also add cooked Millet.
One-for-me, one-for-you! 🙂
Another fantastic do-ahead breakfast is Jamie Oliver’s, “Black Rice Pudding; Mango, Lime, Passion Fruit & Coconut”. It’s a lovely, fresh idea. The ingredients are layered in jam jars like a parfait. Incredibly easy to make. Stack ’em up in the fridge & grab one to go!
This recipe comes from Jamie’s new book, “Everyday Superfood”. If you’re stuck for ideas for wholesome, nutritious breakfasts (or any other meal or snack), he’s developed a whole chapter! Fantastic & inspiring new cookbook.

Kale chips are delightful; but watch the salt shaking it can brine the slightly oiled chips quickly. Determine a pinch of salt before hand and use half that.

Rhianon says:

Hi Genna, love your photography! Have you ever tried fermenting some of your veggies? They’re still pickled, but retain the beneficial bacteria! Here’s an awesome, easy recipe that I tried when I was first starting to ferment: http://spoiledtoperfection.com/recipe_fermented-carrots.php. The nice thing about the recipe is that you could use the brine and instructions for fermenting other kinds of veggies, if you don’t want to do carrots.

Jacqueline says:

Mmmmmm sounds amazing! Thanks for sharing, Rhianon.

Right now, I’m afraid we don’t offer any plans tailored to specific dietary requirements or allergies, but we taking the feedback from our customers and working on a very exciting new product offering soon! Stay tuned!

In the meantime, you can always make meal choice every week to ensure you get what you like. You’ll see a full ingredients and nutritional list on the website before you choose your meals. As everything is packaged separately, substituting or omitting is easy! We also always list the allergens for recipes before you make your meal choice! Check out our upcoming menu here: http://bit.ly/1JuFYrc and click on “more recipe info” under each meal for a nutritional breakdown.

Hope this helps! In case you have more specific questions about how HelloFresh meals could work for your diet, feel free to email our nutritionist at nutrition@hellofresh.com.

How do I let this company know I can’t have wheat or gluten or do I have to cancel

Right now, we don’t offer any plans tailored to specific dietary requirements or allergies, but all of our meals are clearly marked if they are gluten free. If they are not, substituting and omitting is easy as everything is packaged separately. You’ll see a full ingredients list on the website before you choose your meals. We also always list the allergens for recipes before you make your meal choice! We have plenty of very happy gluten free customers! I am considering joining Hello Fresh however, I see minimal information about where your food comes from. Where do you get the produce and meat and seafood from? Are they sustainable and/or Organic? Is the seafood farm raised? Thank you.
