13 Chocolate Recipes To Satisfy Your Sweet Tooth This Holiday Season December 3, 2018
Not like you need an excuse to indulge in chocolate, but hey — the holidays are around the corner.
Savory may be our thing here at HelloFresh, but we’re no strangers to dessert. That’s why we’ve teamed up with Lindt to drop a few free treats in boxes next week (December 8 – 14).
Not planning on getting a delivery next week? There’s still time, but don’t dilly-dally!
In the spirit of all things chocolate, we’ve rounded up 13 of our favorite treats — some more indulgent than others. Some require the use of an oven, others don’t. Some are fruit-forward, others go heavy on the chocolate. Some you sip, others you spoon.
Whatever the case, you’re bound to find one (or many) of these chocolate recipes that perfectly satisfies your sweet tooth.
1. Chocolate Peppermint Cookies
Powdered cacao gives these treats extra chocolatey flair, while peppermint provides a festive touch that’ll have everyone clamouring for seconds. Get the recipe here, and personalize to your sweet tooth’s content.
2. 5-Ingredient Classic Chocolate Mousse
Who knew something so elegant could be this simple?
Although we originally created this no-bake recipe to give you a break from the oven during peak summertime, it’s a sure-win any time of year. Feel free to swap out the semi-sweet chocolate chips for 15 Lindt Milk Truffles for an extra decadent spin on the classic. If you do, decrease the amount of granulated sugar just a tad — from 1/4 cup to about 2 1/2 tablespoons. Get the recipe here.
3. Orange Chocolate Mousse
Tap into your citrusy chocolate fantasies with this creamy, dreamy, orange chocolate mousse recipe. For an even more extravagant look, let the mousse set inside a hollowed out orange. Get the recipe here.
4. Salted Caramel Hot Chocolate
From the comfiest spot on your couch to the snowiest ski lodge, stay warm this winter with a steaming mug of deliciously sweet flavor. Sure, you could stick to the traditional kind. Or, you could spice things up with caramel or rum. With these easy recipes, you simply can’t go wrong.
5. Orange Chocolate Martini
Stovetop and oven not your thing? Not to worry, you can still enjoy the quintessential autumnal combo of orange and chocolate with this stunner of a cocktail recipe. To really let that inner chocoholic out, dip the rim of the glass in chocolate syrup before garnishing with an orange slice.
6. Orange Chocolate Energy Bites
Although this recipe calls on dates for sweetness, chocolate (in the form of cacao powder) is still a main flavor player. And because there’s actually more oomph in the zest of citrus fruits than in the juice of the fruit itself, these bite-sized treats take full advantage of just that.
7. Cashew Chocolate Energy Bites
Another spin on no-bake energy bites, because one is never enough. In this version, pitted dates, cashews, coconut, and cacao powder join forces for the ultimate wholesome snack to fuel your festive holiday activities (without the dreaded sugar crash two hours later).
8. Chocolate-Dipped Apples
Crunchy, and chocolatey, and fruity, and sweet, and — did we say chocolatey? Suffice it to say that we can’t get enough of these chocolate-dipped apple slices piled high in ice cream cones, and have a feeling you’ll agree. Just an inkling, really.
9. Vegan Chocolate Pudding
This pudding passes right over the refined sugar for naturally sweet bananas instead. And for creaminess, avocado (yes, really!) and nut butter. Cacao powder lends a depth of irresistibly chocolate-y flavor, while a pinch of sea salt brings everything together. The result? A dreamy pudding no one will guess is vegan.
10. Tiramisu
This classic Italian indulgence comes together with less than 10 simple ingredients: espresso, coffee liqueur, cookies, eggs, sugar, mascarpone cheese, vanilla extract, and chocolate. And given the fact that two of the key ingredients are caffeinated, it’s no surprise that the Italian word tiramisu translates to “pick me up” in English. Get the recipe here.
11. Chocolate Zucchini Cake with Lemon Cream Cheese Frosting
With all the sweet coconut, apple, and chocolate-y goodness happening here, no one will notice they’re eating veggies. What they WILL notice, however, is how moist the cake is — and zucchini is to thank for that.
12. Salted Dark Chocolate Popcorn
If there’s anything that’ll make those holiday snuggles even more cozy, it’s the fact that this salty-sweet combo of dark chocolate and coarse sea salt will be snug on the couch right next to you. Get the recipe (along with three other flavor combos) here.
13. Chocolate Nice Cream
We know, we know… sometimes you need a bowl of mint chip. We support you and the chocolate syrup that goes on top, too. But we also get pretty darn excited about nice cream: a healthier, banana-based alternative that packs all the holiday sweetness you crave without any of the cavities. Get the recipe (along with two other flavor combos) here.
Once you’ve sufficiently indulged in your chocolate-y treats, turn to these simple winter salads that will actually fill you up. Because balance, people. Balance.
